Crooked Stave Artisan Beer Project

USA

And then there was one. The final name of the BPBW 49ers is the Holy Spirit of the Colorado Trinity, Crooked Stave Artisan Beer Project??????

Some names don’t need any introduction. Their work, the beers, the heritage simply make them feel like they have been always there with us. Still, the story of Crooked Stave is truly something what encaptures the principles of craft brewing: creativity, quality and openness.

Crooked Stave has started as the natural evolution of their founder and brewmaster, Chad “Brett Lord” Yakobson’s Master’s project at Heriot-Watt. He wrote his Master’s thesis on various Brettanomyces yeast species and their use in the brewing industry and published all his research as an open-source website to spread his passion and help other brewers having a better understanding of Brettanomyces in the brewing industry; previously being known mainly through the wine industry.

Probably all you understand why we were super happy even just to receive an answer to our invitation from Chad, and then having them among our line-up. Truth is though that he already had other travels organised by then, still, he put trust in us and made an exception appearing at our festival sending some special beers and letting us represent them. Even though we have strict rules regarding our “meet the brewer” concept, we felt like if he can make an exception then we can make one too. And it is probably not a surprise that making this decision was probably the shortest discussion in our BPBW organizing history. Luckily one of our volunteers, Gabor will also have the privilege pouring their beers at MBCC so we think we’ve already have an idea who is gonna handle their taps in Budapest!

Only their body? We don’t think so, as there is no doubt that they squeeze all their soul into their fantastic beers. And with the sneak-peek of the high chance of their personal appearance in 2020, from now on we can finally turn our focus onto the Hungarian participants of this year’s BPBW 2019 | Budapest Beer Week /// Tasting Sessions??http://bitly.com/nevergofullcraft!
